[Novel] Ghosts (Paul Auster)

A mystery novel that is more interested in deconstructing the mystery genre (along its protagonist’s mind) than solving its case.

Positive: Negative:
Crisp, engrossing prose So surreal it’s a bit hard to make sense of
Interesting, weird characters
Thought provoking on mystery genre
Thought provoking on human mind

  1. You should read the other two books of the New York Trilogy if you haven’t already.
They are parts of the one whole story that only makes sense after you finish the last book.

In the end, I found it to be the kind of a senseless suspense ride without much point to it, but it was very interesting and pleasant to read. It’s a page turner, but a good one nonetheless.
