[Novella] At the Mountains of Madness (H.P. Lovecraft)

At the Mountains of Madness Lovecraft’s magnificent prose brings sheer dread to life in this deeper exploration of the history of the Old Ones.

Still, I find most of his shorter fiction better as it always feels much denser in content.

Positive: Negative:
Descriptive, eloquent, and positively disturbing prose Feels a little bit bloated, and the pace’s a crawl
Fascinating setting of ancient evils in Antarctica If you’ve read Lovecraft before, you know half of the plot already
Cool, eerie atmosphere
Gives more insight into the history of the Old Ones than any other Lovecraft’s books
