All of the stories in this collection blend just the right amounts of fantasy and hard science fiction to paint both plausible and mind-bogglingly fascinating worlds of the future. I wasn’t particularly impressed by Bacigalupi’s Windup Girl, but this collection might as well edge out the best of Asimov’s and Clarke’s compilations.
