A fascinating hard science fiction tale that argues the fantastical  — 50,000 thousand year old dead human bodies on the Moon, planets that never existed in the solar system, an alternate history of our species origin  — yet somehow manages to still ground everything in legitimate science. The only thing it lacks is compelling characters, but that’s a failing almost universal in hard science fiction.
