Makai Kingdom feels like it was haphazardly put from left-overs of Phantom Brave and Disgaea series, but it still has that wacky Nippon Ichi atmosphere, and a bunch of likable characters.
Positive: | Negative: |
Charming 2D visuals | Most stages are randomized, and have nothing to do with the story |
Interesting, likable, wacky characters | You don’t get to control any of the named characters in your army |
Kinda interesting story (if mostly because of the characters) | Reincarnation, buildings, and machines add too much unneeded complexity to the table |
Nippon Ichi SRPG game-play | Uneven difficulty (most of the stages are a cakewalk, but here and then comes one that screws you over) |
