The Gunslinger (Stephen King)

GunslingerStephen King’s first attempt at writing dystopian fantasy ends up as a very promising but disjointed and ultimately unsatisfying piece, which feels more like a prologue to something than a self-contained story. It sure got me interested in the Dark Tower, but it does’t stand well by itself.

Positive: Negative:
Eloquent, descriptive prose Nothing really that significant seems to happen
Fascinating, dark dystopian wild west like setting Feels more like a prologue to Dark Tower than a self-contained story
