Kara no Kyoukai

Kara no KyoukaiSurprisingly underwhelming for something written by Kinoko Nasu. Usually he goes a lot further into the crazy meta-physics and philosophies, but this one is just an action show set in an interesting world, only with a few little attempts at philosophy.

Positive: Negative:
Great visuals
Kokutou is the most boring character in the universe
Great action scenes
Shiki eventually gets infected by Kokutou
Fine music
Azaka, despite being an interesting character, does not factor into the story at all
Fascinating urban fantasy setting The story follows Kokutou’s quest for turning Shiki into a boring person rather than concentrating on philosophy or the fascinating setting
Atmosphere manages to come off as both sinister and melancholic
Shiki’s duality and murderous urges are interesting
Some cool twists in the fifth movie
Thought-provoking ideas on personality and nature of man
